Louisville Pelvic Floor Research GROUP Research Center
Overview
The
Pelvic Floor Research Center at Urogynecology Specialists of Kentucky provides
urogynecological services for patients throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
Dr. Michael Heit introduced the practice of Urogynecology and
Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery to this area in 1994.
Until recently, our physicians were affiliated with the University of
Louisville Health Science Center. We
are now private practice physicians with affiliations at Norton Healthcare
facilities, Jewish Hospital, Baptist Hospital East and Hardin Memorial Hospital.
In
conjunction with Urogynecology Specialists of Kentuckiana, our on-site
Continence Center provides urodynamic and anorectal physiological testing for
women with pelvic floor disorders such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and
anal incontinence, and constipation.
The
Research Center is headed by two fellowship-trained urogynecologists with
experience in completing both basic science and clinical research.
Our full-time urogynecological-specific research nurse coordinates all of
the activity at the Center. In
addition, we have a fellowship program to train fellows in clinical care and
research. Each of these fellows
will complete a Masters of Science program in clinical investigative sciences
during their fellowship program.
Our
Center is dedicated to finding ways to improve the quality of life for women
through both our clinical and research activities.
